The Sunken Village Underneath the Church Square

A village museum of a radically different kind: In «Zermatlantis» visitors can walk through the sunken 19th century village of Zermatt that archaeologists have excavated. Various houses have already been completely excavated, others only partly. Each of the 14 houses represents one area of regional history. The highlight of the exhibition is the Matterhorn Show: every half-hour the landmark of Zermatt spectacularly caves in, thus posing the question: What would Zermatt be without the Matterhorn?
