Mountain Recreation Make-Over

Since 1889 the steepest funicular in the world climbs the Pilatus mountain. Our task for the master plan was to clean it up, air it out and take a visionary look into its future. After a comprehensive analysis of current situation, we created the basis to enable us to refine and optimise the current facilities. We clearly positioned each location on the mountain. For each of the ten attractions, we defined measures to be taken.
Back then, one of our ideas was this: Why not design the inside of an aerial cableway like an arena, so that not only the passengers around the edges can enjoy the view, and everyone can have the experience of «floating in the air»? On 1st April 2015, the Pilatus cableways opened the «Dragon Ride» – the new aerial cableway from the Fräkmüntegg to Pilatus Kulm. The cableway is the real version of our idea. Thanks to its roomy interior, cockpit-like shape and large windows, it makes its passengers feel like they are flying.
