«Das kalte Herz» («The Cold Heart») by Wilhelm Hauff is a famous Swabian fairy tale and also the heart of the museum. Lively staging astonishes the audience in an innovative and completely new way while offering emotional insights into the cultural region of the northern Black Forest. On a series of stages, the story of the charcoal merchant Peter Munk and Holländer-Michel, a dark forest spirit, unfolds suspensefully, using many effects. The second part of the interactive museum is dedicated to the history of the city and the castle of Neuenbürg: All the past and more recent castle inhabitants are away travelling. Only the servant Ambrosius takes care of the old furniture and guides the visitors through the rooms.
