Nature Conservation Centre ZOO ZURICH

360-degree nature conservation at ZOO ZURICH

For decades ZOO ZURICH has been committed to helping endangered animals and ecosystems - in Masoala on Madagascar and in many other places around the world. With the new nature conservation centre, we are making the projects tangible for zoo visitors.

Every 3 seconds, an area as large as the "Masoala rainforest".

The newly designed exhibition shows what is happening to rainforests around the globe: Every three seconds, an area as large as the "Masoala Rainforest" disappears worldwide - 11,000 square metres, every 3 seconds! On Madagascar, 90 percent of the rainforest area has been cleared today. Yet rainforests are home to countless endangered animal and plant species. Using Madagascar as an example, zoo visitors learn how important reforestation and education projects are. In scenery, images and projections - in the form of a 360-degree cinema - the exhibition we designed makes visible how much work and passion goes into the projects. It shows the zoo's solutions and the goals it is pursuing. Finally, the exhibition demonstrates that nature conservation is indispensable. And it is dedicated to the central insight that nature conservation only works together - as an equal task for all those involved.
