Yeosu EXPO 2012 in Korea Swiss Pavilion

Switzerland as the Water Castle of Europe

The 2012 World Expo in the South Korean coastal city of Yeosu was held under the motto "The Living Ocean and Coast". This represented a special challenge for us in landlocked Switzerland without a coast.

Half a Million Visitors in Three Months

How do you stage a topic - seas and their coasts - that at first glance has nothing to do with Switzerland? We got to the core of the matter, in the truest sense of the word. We designed and realized the Swiss pavilion around the theme "The Source. It's in your hands", together with our partners Tamschick, Nüssli and Habegger. Visitors explored the Swiss mountain landscape and recognized its importance as Europe's water reservoir. The tour led through an impressive Alpine panorama and past mystical springs. The centerpiece was a real ice core from a Swiss glacier. 4500 years old - just as old as Korea. The thought-provoking ideas on the responsible use of water were moving and touching: our exhibition was one of the most visited attractions on the EXPO site. An international jury of experts honored the Swiss pavilion with EXHIBITOR Magazine's Expo 2012 Award for the best interpretation of the theme.
